ABOUT THE PROJECT
Zala County Government and four settlements: Zalaszabar, Egeraracsa, Esztergályhorváti and Zalaszentmárton have a joint project which aimed as a goal to create a bicycle path, passing through Kis-Balaton, the collection of sights of the affected settlements , cyclists can get acquainted with the picturesque landscape of Zala. The nearly 12 km long route is a tourist attraction of local and regional importance makes cultural, built and natural heritage accessible for visitors by bicycle. The route is connected to several existing cycle paths (e.g. Zalavár–Balatonhídvég cycle path, West Balaton cycle path, Pannon Pleasure 12.), and it will also provide access to the National Blue Hiking Trails and the Via Sancti Martini pilgrimage route. As a result of the development, other priority areas of the region will be even more easily accessible tourist destinations: Lake Balaton, Kis-Balaton, Zalakaros, Kehidakustány and Lenti. There are also rest areas and information points along the cycling route in each settlement.
