Esztergályhorváti

Esztergályhorváti in the south-eastern part of the Zala Hills, west of the Zala River, located at northern part of the Kis-Balaton.
The territory of the settlement developed around Zalavár in the 9th century, it was part of the Slavic principality, so smaller colonies were formed here at this time as well. Today’s Esztergályhorváti was formed from the merger of  Nagyhorváti and Esztergály in 1966.

The first mention of Esztergály dates back to 1273, and the mention of Horváti also dates from the 13th century. The headquarters of the former Pogányvár Farmers Cooperative.Gellért Hill with its wonderful panorama offers a beautiful view towards Lake Balaton
as far as Badacsony and the lake system of the settlement.

There are also viticulture on the Gellért Hill, which results are excellent wines.

The main attractions of the settlement are the Church of Magyarok Nagyasszonya, the snowdrop forest and the dam of the Kis- Balaton Lake , which is a paradise for anglers.
